BOARD-CERTIFIED IN INTERNAL MEDICINE AND INFECTIOUS DISEASES

Dr. Valerie Riddle joined AltMed in April 2014 and will serve as Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Riddle received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Chemistry (Cum Laude) from the University of South Florida.

Dr. Riddle also spent several years in the Biotech Industry where she led Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, and Project Management. Positions held during that time included Senior Director, Medical Sciences at MedImmune Inc., Vice President, Clinical and Medical Affairs at Guilford Pharmaceuticals and Medical Director at Pharmathene Inc.. Today she is under contract with Ingenesis to serve as Medical Officer in the Division of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes of Health. She also serves on several boards, including USF Foundation.

Joining AltMed as Director of Laboratory and Processing Services, Dr. Christopher Witowski is one of a new breed of pharmacological researchers, devoted to discovering new therapeutic treatments hidden in nature’s endlessly creative chemical repertoire. With his contemporary and hands-on approach to research, Dr. Witowski brings rare insight and talent to the leadership of Altmed’s laboratory initiatives.

Dr. Christopher Witowski’s research has explored the temperate oceans from Florida all the way down to Antarctica, seeking out macro and micro-organisms that could yield completely new kinds of treatments for disease. His work includes the supervision of drug discovery screenings of marine organisms at the Center for Drug Discovery and Innovation – a premiere research program with parallels to Altmed’s research and development objectives. At Altmed’s labs in Sarasota Florida, Dr. Witowski will focus on the discovery of new therapeutic treatments, testing and creating synergies among various cannabis-derived extracts. To accelerate progress in this pioneering new field, Dr. Witowski will initiate an extensive program in collaboration with leading researchers worldwide.
